English singer and keyboard player Hollie Cook is one of her generation’s premier voices in lovers rock, an English/Caribbean sub-genre of reggae that celebrates erotic love. She was part of the final line-up of all-female feminist punk/reggae band The Slits, and since 2010 has had a successful career as solo artist with her own brand of cosmic tropical pop. Cook has music in her blood, as the daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook and Jeni Cook, who was a backing vocalist for Culture Club (Boy George is her godfather). Her first solo album Hollie Cook was released in 2011, and singles such as Milk & Honey and That Very Night paved the way for her success. She went on to collaborate with legendary producer Martin ‘Youth’ Glover on her 2018 album Vessel of Love. He described Hollie’s music as “seductive and wistful melodies, underpinned with some sharp lyrical observations and clever word play combined with an exquisite and informed pop sensibility.”
